SummaryThe man and a girl are about nineteen or twenty years old. They are waiting at a Spanish railway station for the express train. The express train will take them to Madrid. They drank beer as well as liquor drinks and continued on drinking more beer. While they were sitting in the hot shade and discussing what the man say. All the tension between the two was like sizzling to the Spanish sun. The man was urging the girl to have the operation. But he really does not want her to do it if she does not want to. The doctor was really trying to persuade her into doing it. The girl is really trying to be brave and not show any fear but she is extremely frightened to have the operation. She stated a speech about the hills beyond the train station that it looks like white elephants.When she the man had told the girl that she had to get an operation she was scared. I know that I would have been scared to as well, because I had to get heart surgery. Having to hear a doctor tell you that can be very devastating. Buts she knew that she really need the operation. The operation she needed was not really an operation on account that it is natural on what she had. He stated facts about the operation, to help make the girl less worried.

Taking one step at a time out of the dependents hands of my family and love ones, into the life of responsibilities and morals. My sister never reached her expectations and developed the skills to get out of high school. My brother graduated but took the wrong turn after school. At the age of twenty- two in the year of 2007, my bother founded his path in life and advanced unto a more simplistic lifestyle.

The Fishing Trip
The morning was sunny and raining before I heard bang on my door. It was one of the counselors reminding the students and myself that were leaving for the fishing trip in a few minutes. I entered the bus without time to spear. The ride was long; a lot of the students sleep the whole way there. I was looking out of the window the hole time as the person beside me with his fishing hat on, brown pants and loud orange shirt kelp dosing-off and falling on me the hole time I was on the bus. I arrived at the site at 11 o’clock, as everybody stressed grabbed their fishing pole and started on their way. While I was there some students stud around the grass and laughed at the other people who were at the edge of water struggling and was scared of the fishes. I cough seven fishes, but three was little so I threw them back. On the way back to the bus you could see fish guts on over haft of the students. Getting on the bus everybody started about each other but most about dark-skinned DJ, he is in prep. The students started making songs about how dirty was and how he do not bathes everyday. As the students talked about DJ I felt sorry for him and made them stop before I got mad, when I get mad its nothing nice. As I looked out the window day dreaming about females the noise faded and the students started to fall asleep one by one. Pulling up the school heads started coming up popping up like popcorn on movie night, fast and ready to be dismissed. Everybody started running to the showers except DJ. Everybody finish taking their bath and headed to eat the fish we cough. Everybody got full and went to there room. The trip was very fun and gave the students time to bond. Fishing is fun when you are around a lot of people that like to have fun.
Weekly Refection
Waking up 9:30 was not something I had in mind. I was almost late for breakfast, but as if I was on time. After I ate breakfast, Poker took me to Wal-Mart. I went o pick up my medicine. When I arrived back at Concordia College-Selma, I got on the bus to go to the Perry County Correctional Center. When I got to Perry County Correctional Center, there was a voice that said “take everything out of your pockets and leave them on the bus.” In the Perry County Correctional Center there were a lot of different things to learn from in the jail. I got to learn about how men got raped and are scared to say anything because the other inmates would kill them. I learn that over half of being locked down, for example one inmate starts to defecate and painted it upon the walls, 90% of the inmates who use their own feces to paint alls, eat it after they are done. When the inmates do that, the guards have to put them into a cell because the cleaning crew has to clean the mess up. The cleaning crew has to clean because if they do not other people could catch diseases. When the convicts get their free time, they have to be out in the hot sun on concrete with very little shade. When I arrived back to Concordia, I founded a student that did not attend the trip. The reason he did not attend the trip is because the student went fishing with one of the upper bound councilors. I see the student and the councilor together very often on our free time; I knew something was going on because the student and the councilor were flirting too much.
Weekly Reflection
These lasted couple of days has just blown by. Monday and Tuesday was normal days expect Tuesday; the only difference was that I went to Wal-Mart to get some material for my room. Wednesday I went to chapel that morning to find the baseball coach dressed up like the people that are casting speal and demon out people. I was trying to pay attention, but it was hard when the C.E.O was falling asleep along with the other students. As I saw one of the kids head fall there was her head falling the same direction. I tried my best not to laugh, but I could not help it. Tears were coming out of my eyes because I was laughing so hard. Thursday I had the opportunity to perform yoga. It was hard for a lot of people because they were not flexible. It made some people sleepy, but it did not have an affect on me. Yesterday when I got finish with my work my leg started hurting because of the knot the appeared on it. I was telling everybody but they did not take it in to consideration. The day went on it got bigger and started hurting worse that is when I said to myself “I need to go to the doctor.” I called my grandmother and told her the situation and she said that I needed to go to the doctor and get a shot if it is a spider bite. I got Poker to take to take me to the doctor and he came to the back with me also. The doctor told me that it could have been anything that bite me but he think that it was a spider. The doctor left the room and came back with a nurse that had a needle in her hand. The doctor told me to relax and it would only take a second. He pulled a sharp razor and cut the knot in haft. My body went in to shock because I was not given a pain pill before he cut me, therefore; I felt everything that doctor cut. I came back to my room, went to sleep and did not wake up until it was time to go run the next morning. Besides the fact that I got bit by a spider it was a good week.
Prison
Saturday was an eye opening experience for me. I visited the Perry County Correctional Facility in Marion, Al and got a first hand experience of what a prisoners
Everyday routine is like. From what I gained it’s not too different from the ABC program. Prison would take a major toll on my mind psychologically as well as physically considering the food rations they receive. Once you are incarcerated in a system you have no say so over your life from that point. With twenty-four hour surveillance and no freedom is not a way to live. The only way to maintain is by doing something constructive such as: lifting weights, working out, working in the kitchen or laundry room being a trustee, writing, reading, shooting basketball, or staying in your dorm. Seeing something like this first hand made me really think of the things I may have been taking for granted everyday, and ways to take more advantage of them.

I am writing this letter to inform you that you tried to pull me down, but I would never let you get to me. Thank you for putting all of those bumps in my life. It did not hurt anything, or me but it did make me better. Thank you for telling me I was never going to be anything, but a boy on the street. I made it past you with a smile on my face. Your discouragement was a motivation to me to prove you wrong. You taught me how to respect people, but you also taught me how to respect the people who do not respect you. You never put your hands on me and I prayed that you would. I cannot believe that you never tried to help me through my eyes and I thank you. You tried your best to make me go down a different road than the one I am on, but your best was your worst. Out of the hard times you put me through, you never said sorry once. I want to thank you for being the nice, caring and loving person you all are. First of all I want to thank God because without him, I would never been born. God blessed me with so much more than I give him thanks for, so thank you. My family played a big role in my life too by staying on me .When I wanted to just stop, my family was there to keep me going. My family was and still is here to give me that extra push. My brother is somebody who is going to tell you the truth no matter what it is. As a child growing up, my brother was there to tell me the consequences if I was about to do something crazy, but let me make my decisions that help me so much in life because I did not have anybody that pampers me. My grandmother is my life. From the age of three, she took care of me through it all. She gave her last for me countless times and she never asked for anything in return. I would not change my attitude because I got a positive attitude and that’s what gets me there some hard the days.

Waking up to the smell of grits and pancakes in my grandmother’s house is a very good feeling to wake up to. I am a young black male that did not take life for granted. I am a person who that takes care of responsibilities when they are needed. I was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. My deepest fear is not succeeding in life. I told myself at the age of 14 that I refused to fell in life, no matter if I have to go to the army or whatever I have to do. I am a man of my word, and mean what I say. All my life, people have told me what they should have done. I do not want to be a person like that I want to be a person who tell his kids, this is what I did to make it. Look at the world today I see; I have to go to college and follow my of being a nurse that makes good money. I have seen so many people get killed or kill somebody over a dollar because they did not want to go to school and make something out of themselves. That itself motivates me everyday to do what I got to do to live the life I promised myself.

On the west side of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where half of the windows are busted and people are getting wicked everyday. I am a person who had a very short childhood because of taking on the responsibilities of my grandmother. Being raised where I am from, you was either going to make it or be one of those who gave up and used drugs for an excuse of why they are the way they are. At the age of 15 years old, my grandmother started to get sick and nobody was around to help her, and I was doing nothing but running the streets anyway. So I left my mother to stay with my grandmother. Another reason I left my mother was because I was living an unsuccessful lifestyle. I started helping with small things like washing dishes and cleaning the bathroom every other day. I started off with small things because my grandmother is a person that likes to be independent and I did not want her to be uncomfortable. After time progressed, I started doing better in life and in school. My mother wanted me to come back because she had nobody to cook and clean, while we were out doing whatever. I told her my grandmother needed you, the family, and me at this trying time in life and since you all are out for ourselves, but I am going to take care of her. My mother hated that because it is true. At the age of 16-17, I got a job and told my grandmother just pay for medicine and I will pay the light, water, and cable bill. In the summer, I would get a second job and go half on the bills that was left. At the age of 17 is when I really found my love for the game of basketball because I am in another world on the court and it’s a way I release stress and have fun. When I graduated, I realized that I did not do it for myself, but I did it to make my grandmother happy. I always thought I was going to be dead at the age of 15.I never saw myself in college because I am not a school person, but it is the only way my grandmother is going to live a peaceful life is through me. I say that because my grandmother is a nice person and some people try to take advantage of her, but I am not going let people do that to her. I am the person that tell everybody no and do not let people control her niceness; I am the person that makes her happy. My view of life is different because I am living for my grandmother. My life starts when her life ends.
