To whom this may concern

I am writing this letter to inform you that you tried to pull me down, but I would never let you get to me. Thank you for putting all of those bumps in my life. It did not hurt anything, or me but it did make me better. Thank you for telling me I was never going to be anything, but a boy on the street. I made it past you with a smile on my face. Your discouragement was a motivation to me to prove you wrong. You taught me how to respect people, but you also taught me how to respect the people who do not respect you. You never put your hands on me and I prayed that you would. I cannot believe that you never tried to help me through my eyes and I thank you. You tried your best to make me go down a different road than the one I am on, but your best was your worst. Out of the hard times you put me through, you never said sorry once. Thank you for being a thoughtful and heartless person that you are because you help me to become the role model I am today.

To the thankful People You All Have


I want to thank you for being the nice, caring and loving person you all are. First of all I want to thank God because without him, I would never been born. God blessed me with so much more than I give him thanks for, so thank you. My family played a big role in my life too by staying on me .When I wanted to just stop, my family was there to keep me going. My family was and still is here to give me that extra push. My brother is somebody who is going to tell you the truth no matter what it is. As a child growing up, my brother was there to tell me the consequences if I was about to do something crazy, but let me make my decisions that help me so much in life because I did not have anybody that pampers me. My grandmother is my life. From the age of three, she took care of me through it all. She gave her last for me countless times and she never asked for anything in return. That is why I do not mind doing anything for her. A lot of people have helped me throughout my life, but that was sure just to name a few.

I would not change my attitude because I got a positive attitude and that’s what gets me there some hard the days.
I would not change the way I look because I look respectful and innocent and its true.
I would not change my soft heart for people because I would be in jail right now if I did not
I would not change my childhood because my childhood and my struggle made me the strong young man I am now.
I would not change the love for my grandmother because that is why I am the in the position I am, I’ll be in the street if it was not for here.

I would change the fact that I have to depend on people for transportation.
I would change the fact that I did not take my 9th grade serous opportunity.
I would change my height because I would have a better opportunity of going to a bigger school playing basketball.
I would change the face that I am a last minute person, a person that does everything at the last minute.
I would change my weight because I wish I as thicker because it would be even harder to stop on the basketball court.
I would change the amount of money I got because money makes the world go round and would be able to do over haft of the thing I dreamed of.

Self Analysis

Waking up to the smell of grits and pancakes in my grandmother’s house is a very good feeling to wake up to. I am a young black male that did not take life for granted. I am a person who that takes care of responsibilities when they are needed. I was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. My deepest fear is not succeeding in life. I told myself at the age of 14 that I refused to fell in life, no matter if I have to go to the army or whatever I have to do. I am a man of my word, and mean what I say. All my life, people have told me what they should have done. I do not want to be a person like that I want to be a person who tell his kids, this is what I did to make it. Look at the world today I see; I have to go to college and follow my of being a nurse that makes good money. I have seen so many people get killed or kill somebody over a dollar because they did not want to go to school and make something out of themselves. That itself motivates me everyday to do what I got to do to live the life I promised myself.

Student Philiosoph

On the west side of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where half of the windows are busted and people are getting wicked everyday. I am a person who had a very short childhood because of taking on the responsibilities of my grandmother. Being raised where I am from, you was either going to make it or be one of those who gave up and used drugs for an excuse of why they are the way they are. At the age of 15 years old, my grandmother started to get sick and nobody was around to help her, and I was doing nothing but running the streets anyway. So I left my mother to stay with my grandmother. Another reason I left my mother was because I was living an unsuccessful lifestyle. I started helping with small things like washing dishes and cleaning the bathroom every other day. I started off with small things because my grandmother is a person that likes to be independent and I did not want her to be uncomfortable. After time progressed, I started doing better in life and in school. My mother wanted me to come back because she had nobody to cook and clean, while we were out doing whatever. I told her my grandmother needed you, the family, and me at this trying time in life and since you all are out for ourselves, but I am going to take care of her. My mother hated that because it is true. At the age of 16-17, I got a job and told my grandmother just pay for medicine and I will pay the light, water, and cable bill. In the summer, I would get a second job and go half on the bills that was left. At the age of 17 is when I really found my love for the game of basketball because I am in another world on the court and it’s a way I release stress and have fun. When I graduated, I realized that I did not do it for myself, but I did it to make my grandmother happy. I always thought I was going to be dead at the age of 15.I never saw myself in college because I am not a school person, but it is the only way my grandmother is going to live a peaceful life is through me. I say that because my grandmother is a nice person and some people try to take advantage of her, but I am not going let people do that to her. I am the person that tell everybody no and do not let people control her niceness; I am the person that makes her happy. My view of life is different because I am living for my grandmother. My life starts when her life ends.
